1 last trip......

Back and forth, back and forth..... And now time to rest and get ready for baby. I took my last work trip a few weeks back to wrap things up before my leave. Did i mention i despise paying taxes on the danish system, but ohhhh ohhh how i adore the benefits! The Danes really have the work/life balance figured out. Beauty of socialist gov't! ;-) I'll start my leave end of this week and should return around August of 2015. Until then, just enjoying a few of my favorite danish things......

Dinner out with the Engbers at MASH- no picture with them or the restaurant :-( but take a look at the beauties that Margareta grew in her garden.

I spent 3 days in a quite intensive Project Management course, followed by a 3hr exam. After I decided to stock up on some of my favorite Danish Designers to celebrate- Rosendahl glasses and oil & vinegar set, Menu hot plate holder, a nice leather box, cork note boards and matching onesies from Noa Noa for the girls :-)

And spending some quality time with Shereen

DK getaway

Some call it work...... I call it a mini vacation!
This little love bug took me to the airport to say goodbye. As I went thru security- I bawled! Daddy snuck her our quietly to keep the drama to a minimum.

DK in the springtime

This month I picked up 2 sessions in Copenhagen and Madrid, so we met up with our traveling Nanny and headed North. Funny enough the weather in Denmark is by far out shining Spain these days. (apparently we're headed for the coldest summer in 200 years!) It was such a nice week for Carolina and Grammy to take long walks and explore the city. I can't complain too much..... check out my office below! We stayed right on the water, near Nyhavn and the city center. Each morning I caught the water taxi to get to work- what a nice way to start the day! We also got to meet up with some of our favorite peeps during the week- Sara, Shereen and fam, Henrik and The Engbergs. And Carolina is now registered as a Danish resident as well- why not?!
Royal Opera House, donated by Mr. Moller- this was my office for the week!
Nope, not December, just Grammy's camera showing an amazing view of Nyhavn =)

with Shereen and Henrik at Tivoli Gardens- so nice in the springtime!
Carolina and The Little Mermaid (they're about the same size)
Mom's first time at Tivoli as well
BBQ at The Engberg's- Their garden is such a site! So glad to call this place my second home! (even have my name on the door =)

Closing Time

Farewell for now.... Last week of work and if I could, I´d be doing cartwheels around the house! As many of you know, times have been a bit turbulent on the workside. Thank goodness it all worked out in the end and so thanks to the Danish gov´t and the fine folks of Maersk, I´m on leave until end of next year! =)))))  And now it´s time for a little RnR!
One last trip to DK before I´m off
My morning walk to the office
Coffee and Cakes in Hellerup
My extended Swedish family- Margareta and her beautiful garden
Colleague and Friend for life- Anders at the bbq

Summer Scenes- Copenhagen July and August

In the summer...... no finer place. Copenhagen can be such a great place with warm, sunnny weather. Day light last until 11:30, restaraunts open out onto the streets, the entire
city walking around and enjoying the summer air. I spent all last week meeting up with old friends for dinner. a good reminder of why i do what i do. enjoy the summer scenes.

Freezing!

You've probably seen this location before- but not with the man swimming in the ice by the boats! (see bottom left of 1st boat). That's a Copenhagen winter for you! We went from 95 degrees in Singapore to around 15 degrees in Copenhagen in apx 12 hours! Luckily the best part awaits us- South Africa here we come!

De ja vu

Madrid, Copenhagen, Madrid and repeat...... I just spent the past few weeks in Denmark for some sessions with work. This was great in so many ways- 1, because I got to fly thru Madrid and spend a few days on both sides of the trip. 2, because Ricardo was able to join me in Copenhagen the weekend in-between (and it was 5 years ago in June that we actually met in the same location!). and 3, because the new job has me on a fast track consulting program that I am just loving! and so..... repeat, I leave next week to do the same trip again. This time with a stop in Pamplona for San Fermin and the Running of the Bulls! Stay tuned....

The Motherland

Writing from my last "official" day in Madrid, just back from 2 weeks transition with my new team in Denmark. Day 1 ran into 3 americans, 5 spainards, 2 italians, 2 south africans, a lovely egyptian =), and many danes from my various locations in Maersk. Let me just say what a small small world this really is. The weather was spectacular, but I didn´t manage to do very much photography. Below is an image from outside the office. Back again in June, so I´ll try to capture a bit more of the city. It´s really lovely when the sun is shining.

and thanks Shereen for taking care of me all week!

out of a suitcase....

I know I´m one to take things for granted.... But as I finally wrap up my summer training sessions, I feel very lucky to be given these opportunities with my work. Now if I can just remind myself this again on Monday morning. =) Here are a few of my stops from the past weeks.....

Copenhagen- back to the motherland
Marseille- South of France
Paris- w/ quick stops at Notre Dame, the Louvre, Moulin Rouge windmills, and Eifel Tower

Casablanca- sunset view of the Mosque
